Independent Connections Provider (ICP)
FMJ Solutions Ltd are a Lloyds accredited company under the National Electrical Registration Scheme (NERS) that can carry out metered and unmetered connections on either single or three-phase supplies nationwide including all necessary excavation and reinstatement if required.
We have currently arrangements with the following Distribution Network Operators:
• National Grid (formerly WPD)
• UK Power Networks (UKPN)
• Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE)
We are currently in the process of securing authorisation from :
Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN)
Electricity Northwest (ENW)
Should your project require any other authorisation, we can make the necessary arrangements with the required distribution network operator (DNO).
Points of connection
FMJ Solutions can identify points of connection and arrange site specific permissions with the DNO to simplify the process for you.
Since July 2020 we have carried out over 29,000 connections, disconnections and service transfers for:

Oxfordshire County Council
Client: VolkerHighways
Date: February 2022 to present
We carry out connections works on behalf of VolkerHighways through their term maintenance contract with Oxfordshire County Council.
To date we have carried out over 8,000 disconnection and reconnection as part of a column replacement process. This one stop shop process ensures all activities, including existing column disconnection and removal, replacement with new column and lantern, reconnection, testing inspection and reinstatement are carried out in one visit with all activities usually carried out the same day.
This best-in-class column replacement process ensures disruption is minimised for residents, businesses, and road users.
Transport for London – Bus Shelters

Date: July 2020 to present
FMJ have carried out the installation of 391 new bus stops including connections.
Works involved:
- Obtaining DNO site specific permissions
- Provision of traffic and pedestrian management
- Installation of new bus shelters
- Civils works and new connections.
The traffic and pedestrian management in these heavy footfall and sensitive area carefully adhered to all measures required for vulnerable persons and included the establishment of temporary bus stops.
Trojan electric vehicle charge point scheme Phase II
Client: VolkerHighways
Date: October 2023 – Present
Our ICP team support our electric vehicle installers by carrying out 3 phase metered connections to the distribution pillars. This allows us to provide a fully integrated installation service incorporating all civils, electrical and connections activities.
We have also carried out connections to 18 distribution points for the BP Pulse project for the same client.
